A faint humming or high-frequency sound may occasionally be heard from the display, particularly in a quiet environment.
Electronic displays contain power-regulation and screen-driving components that operate at high frequencies. Under certain operating conditions, these components may produce a low-level audible vibration. The sound may vary slightly depending on:
- Screen brightness
- Information displayed on the screen
- System load
- Battery voltage
- Connected components
- Installation location and surrounding panels
Is this a product fault?
A faint and stable hum is generally considered a normal operating characteristic and does not indicate a fault, provided that:
- The display operates normally.
- The touchscreen responds correctly.
- There is no screen flickering or unexpected restarting.
- No warning or communication errors are displayed.
- The display and surrounding area are not unusually hot.
- There is no burning smell or visible damage.
- The noise is only noticeable close to the display or in a very quiet environment.
The sound may appear louder when the display is mounted against a hollow wall or panel, as the mounting surface can amplify normal electronic vibration.
What should I check?
- Confirm that the display is operating normally.
- Restart the power-management system and check whether the sound changes.
- Adjust the display brightness and observe whether the sound changes.
- Check that the display is securely mounted.
- Check that the surrounding trim or wall panel is not loose or vibrating.
- Confirm that all accessible display-cable connections are secure.
Do not dismantle the display or access internal electrical components.
Contact Projecta Technical Support if:
- The display flickers, freezes, restarts or loses communication.
- The display becomes unusually hot.
- There is a burning smell, discolouration or visible damage.
Where possible, provide a short video showing the sound, the display operation and the conditions under which it occurs.
