FAQ, Troubleshooting & Support Guide

Overview

This article provides information on Projecta Intelli-Start Lithium Jump Starters, including:

  • Vehicle compatibility
  • Charging and usage
  • LED indicators and errors
  • Troubleshooting steps
  • Safe operating practices

All models use LiFePO₄ (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery technology and are designed for 12V automotive batteries only.

Vehicle Compatibility

What vehicles can these jump starters support?

These models are suitable for:

  • 12V petrol vehicles
  • 12V diesel vehicles

⚠️ These units are NOT compatible with 24V systems.

Can I use the unit on household or dry-cell batteries?

No.

These jump starters are designed only for automotive batteries.
Using them on other battery types may result in:

  • Damage to the unit
  • Battery failure
  • Personal injury

Charging the Jump Starter

How do I check the battery level?

Press the Power Button:

  • Green → Fully charged
  • Yellow → Partially charged
  • Red → Low battery (recharge required)

How long does it take to charge?

  • IS920C → ~4 hours
  • IS1220C → ~8 hours
  • IS1400 → ~3 hours (partial)
  • IS1500 → 4–6 hours

Charging time depends on battery level and power source.

Why does charging appear slow?

This is normal.

The unit uses a controlled, cell-balanced charging system to:

  • Protect the battery
  • Extend lifespan
  • Prevent overheating

What is “Charger Timeout” (IS1400)?

If charging exceeds 24 hours:

  • Disconnect charger
  • Reconnect to restart cycle

Rapid Recharge Technology (RRT)

What is RRT?

RRT allows the unit to recharge from the vehicle after a jump start.

How does it work?

  1. Start the vehicle
  2. Leave clamps connected for 40 seconds
  3. Unit recharges via alternator

RRT automatically stops once the unit returns to its original state of charge.

Jump Starting a Vehicle

My vehicle did not start. What should I check?

Before retrying:

  • Clamps are firmly connected
  • Battery terminals are clean
  • Unit has sufficient charge
  • Vehicle is 12V
  • Engine size is within unit capacity

Cold weather may reduce performance — retry up to 3 times.

How many attempts are recommended?

  • Maximum 3 attempts per session
  • Wait 2–3 minutes between attempts

What is Override Mode?

Override Mode is used when the battery is extremely low.

  • IS1500 → Press OVERRIDE
  • IS920C / IS1220C → Hold JUMP START
  • IS1400 → Hold JUMP START

⚠️ Important:
Override Mode disables:

  • Reverse polarity protection
  • Short-circuit protection

Use with caution.

LED Indicators & Alerts

What do the LED colours mean?

  • Green → Ready / Fully charged
  • Yellow → Partial charge / active process
  • Red → Warning / fault / low battery
